Fossil Fuels
Fossil fuels are by decomposing animals and plants which are found in earth crust and obtained by exposure to heat and pressure for millions of years. It has hydrogen and carbon and burned for generating energy Some of the fossil fuels are coal, oil and natural gas. It is mainly heated to produce thick oil which produces gasoline and used in vehicles and it is known as aviation gasoline. It is found in many products in our daily lives as statistics says that 96% of items, we use has fossil fuels every day. It has a huge impact on environment, global economy, human health, climate change and so on. It is helpful in many ways but for everything in this universe has both pros and cons, in similar fashion fossil fuels have cons.
Positive Impact of Fossil Fuels:
It helps in generating electricity which is most essential in our daily lives. One cannot imagine life without electricity because each and small thing requires electricity. One cannot buy electricity as it is produced naturally through fuels. As it is in many industries such as natural oil and gas etc., they need huge staffing requirements which provides a massive job opportunities. This will change ones live and it also has impact on global economy as taxes paid to the government for betterment of a society. It also impacts one’s human health as it is useful to prepare medicines, and live saving devices like MRI Scanners. It is also used in making of computers which is why today’s technological advancement throughout the world in a positive note. Nearly 6000 petroleum products are produced by usage of fossil fuels. The energy developed from fossil fuels with help of technology is well-developed and that is the reason we can use power globally for decades. It is also cheap and reliable when compared to other sources such as wind and solar.
Negative Impact of Fossil Fuels:
In order to generate electricity across the world the fossil fuels burn which leads to global warming as they have huge amounts of carbon and released into atmosphere which also impacts all species on the earth by causing pollution, natural disasters and so on. These are non-renewable energy sources so it cannot be reused and takes millions of years to produce fuel by a natural process. In emergency cases when all the available fossil fuels becomes zero then it will impact in a bad way which can cause death sometimes. This fossil fuel reserves are unsustainable in nature. This might lead to occurrence of accidents which are not so powerful when compared to nuclear, but it has an impact on environment, population, climate, revenue etc. It is unsafe when compared to wind and solar. This might sometimes result in loss of revenue for a country.
Countries debate on usage of Fossil Fuels:
Countries debate on usage of Fossil Fuels:
As global
warming is rapidly increasing by release of green house gases into atmosphere
countries like European Union, Japan, Canada, Australia and some US states have
implemented policies in which the usage of these fuels is in limits. This has been
decided when they came to know that 65% of greenhouse gases combustion is
caused by fossil fuels globally where coal contributes 45%, oil 30% and natural
gas 20% in mid-1990’s. After introduction of that policy and introduction of low
or no carbon energy sources these countries, data in the annual BP Statistical Review of Energy shows the usage of oil
and coal are down to 10% which is a great sign but although there are two main
markets which are responsible for rise in fossil fuel consumption. First the ongoing
consumption of fossil fuels which causes the small cost of extracting fuel will
rise when compared to clean energy sources like wind. This is known as Supply
theory. Secondly due to scientific and technological advancement globally and
development of free-carbon technologies will impact the fossil fuels as it
become more in use in the market. This is known as Demand theory.
One cannot imagine the world without fossil fuels as it has huge
advantages when it come compared to negatives. As there is a saying everything
depends on the way we use. If a person uses fossil fuels for positive purpose
it is safe and secure even though it has some effects and are controlled in
future by using new scientific ways. Usage of fossil fuels is in limits instead
using in excess way which again impact on ourselves. Hence, it’s depends on how
we use than completely stopping the usage.
